Access to health care for foreign immigrants

There was a change of policy. From 1 September 2012 is in force Royal Decree 16/2012, regulating access to the public health system in Spain, following which are not covered by the free INSS immigrants not regularized, except for emergencies, pregnancy and childbirth, and care for children.

In Catalonia, these people continue to have access to the health system through a one-year renewable permit, which can be credited if you apply 3 months continuous registration in Catalonia and has income below the basic income for Inclusion and Social Protection.

Visit our Plans and regulations page, with all information and documents about the new rules.
