The Museum's collections

The collections of the Museu de la Música include three cultural heritage collections and archives − instrumental, historical and sound − fruit of a series of legacies, donations and acquisitions that have enriched the city’s heritage.

• Instrumental fonds

  

  Includes instruments from around the world and from all periods (from pre-Columbian to 20th century and historical European instruments).

• Historic Archive

  

  With over 12,000 documents including donations and legacies of composers and musicians with close ties to Barcelona’s musical culture. Most noteworthy are the Albéniz, Granados, Malats, Manén and Pujol collections.

• Sound fonds

  

  Includes approximately 7,800 pieces, amongst which the various stages in the evolution of digital and analogical recording of music are represented.
