Introduction

Barcelona Climate Change Talks 2009 will be attended by over 4,000 delegates from many countries and international observers with aim of drawing up a text for a possible agreement at the Convention of the Parties (COP15), which will take place in December in Copenhagen.

From 2 to 6 November, FIRA GRAN VIA, at carrer del Foc 47, Barcelona, will be the venue for the last preparatory sessions prior to COP15, which will take place in Copenhagen in December.

Barcelona Climate Change Talks 2009 will be the last of the meetings established for 2009 in order to draw up an internationally deal to tackle climate change beyond 2012, when the Kyoto Protocol expires. The prior meetings held so far in 2009 are:

  • Bonn Climate Change Talks, April, 2009
  • Bonn Climate Change Talks, June 2009
  • Bonn Climate Change Talks, August 2009
  • Bangkok Climate Change Talks, September 2009

These meetings were established under the Bali Action Plan agreed at COP13, in order to arrive at a future agreement regarding climate change beyond 2012.
