Climate Group

The Climate Group was launched in 2004 to help governments and private institutions to shift to a low-carbon economy.

The Climate Group comprises regional governments, companies, associations and others who are committed to tackling climate change.

The Government of Catalonia took part in the first Climate Leaders Summit in 2005, which resulted in the signature of the Montreal Declaration, through the Climate Group, along with 37 other regional governments from the USA, Canada, Europe, Africa, Australia and South America. The Declaration establishes undertakings regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions the use of renewable energies, energy efficiency, agriculture and efficient transport.

In 2008, in Poznan, Catalonia took part in the second Climate Leaders Summit through the Climate Group and signed the Poznan Declaration, which agreed a work programme to be followed by signatories in tackling climate change.
