What to do in the event of a fire
When a fire breaks out in the home, if you are able to escape:
- Move away from the fire and close as many doors as you can
- Head down the stairs and onto the street. Never use the lift
- Call the fire brigade straight away on 080
When a fire breaks out in the home, if you are unable to escape:
- Seek refuge from the fire by closing as many doors as possible
- Use damp clothes to seal cracks around the door to stop smoke getting through
- Call the fire brigade on 080 and make yourself clearly visible at a balcony or window
If there is a fire or smoke in the stairway:
- Seek refuge indoors. Do not attempt to escape
- Call the fire brigade straight away on 080
- Make yourself clearly visible at a balcony or window
