A renegade from the British dubstep scene, Zomby won the hearts of everyone (including Animal Collective) with their album Where Were U In ‘92? (2008), a tribute to the rave sound of the 90s. Dedication, their début in 4AD, is a whole other tune: it's melancholy, nakedness and strangeness, as essentialist a (master)piece as a Robert Bresson film and as unsettling as a Dario Argento film. Solitary electronics in memory of an absent friend. One of the surprises of the year and a sure-fire impact on stage.
