If Radiohead became a jazz band, perhaps they would sound a bit like Portico Quartet. The sensitivities of rock and electronic music ignite the post-jazz of this youthful London quartet, whose début album, Knee-deep in the North Sea (2008), was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize. One of the group's unique features is their continuous use of the hang drum, a UFO-shaped percussion instrument. Added to this are the floating saxophone and unparalleled rhythm section (double bass and drums). A multigenre delicatessen.
